AERIAL VIEWS

SKY DIVERS

Philippine Air Force (PAF) show their stuff during the Hot Air Balloon Festival held annually at Clark Field, Angeles City, Philippines.

Taken in February 1998, this view of Mt. Pinatubo looks westward towards Zambales and shows a crater lake far less full than when it reached critical levels in 2002. Additionally, the image clearly shows (if slightly enlarged) the hot air balloon "Bonaventura" descending into the crater rim during its historic first crossing of the volcano by a manned balloon.

A parachutist exits over Angeles City and the Abacan River in the Philippines. The preferred touch down zone is near Omni Aviation on Clark Field (Clark Airbase).

POWER CHUTE HANG GLIDING PARACHUTING
The annual Hot Air Balloon Festival in Angeles City, Philippines is a good place for enterpreneurs to showcase their latest equipment - in this case the power-driven parasail known by its brand name of "Aerochute". David Palmer - launching his hang gliger from the Dallas Road cliffs in Victoria, BC, Canada enjoys views of the distant Olympic Peninsula in the USA. BALLOONING AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY ULTRA-LIGHTS
This image shows the very large hot air balloon "Bonaventura" - carrying Joyce Bowen, Dennis Floden and Bob Kinsinger of the USA - landing at Clark Field, Angeles City after a practice flight taken before attempting the first manned balloon crossing over Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines. The following day - on February 4th, 1998 - the three Americans piloted the balloon and themselves into history with a successful crossing of the volcano that also included a circumnavigation of the crater lake done within the jagged lahar walls of the volcano's rim. Canadian photographer Chris Miles posing by a "chase chopper" before taking aerial photos of a Sikorsky heavy lift helicopter that was used at Angat Dam in the Philippines for moving urgently needed drilling equipment used in a river diversion project during the El Nino of 1997. One of several ultralights that are part of the Angeles City Flying Club located a "hop, skip and jump" from Clark Field in the Philippines. To contact ACFC, e-mail Melvin Troth at acfc@mozcom.com
