FERRIES

A commercial float plane touches down at Victoria Inner Harbour, BC, Canada.

The Russian built Sikorsky S64F heavy-lift helicopter- known as "Skycrane" - clearly shows its 6 blades in this telephoto shot taken at 1/30 second. This type of chopper is commonly used for fire suppression; the water tanks mount in the belly cutout. This aircraft - belonging to Erickson Air Crane of the USA - is carrying a cable for slinging loads and was photographed extensively and in detail while on hevi-lift operations.

The Blackball Ferry "MV Coho" leaves the Inner Harbour at Victoria, BC, Canada on its daily run to Port Angeles in the USA.

TRAPPING #1 TRAPPING #2 WRANGLING
A native trapper skins a beaver caught near the north end of Atlin Lake in the Yukon, Canada. (Circa 1968)  A skinned beaver carcoss makes a symbolic pose in this shot taken in the Yukon in 1968.  Horse breaking - or "wrangling" - can take other forms than portrayed by Hollywood. This image shows a scene from the Yukon (circa 1968) where the horse has one foreleg tied up so it can easily be pulled to the ground by the wrangler. The idea is to tire the wild horse and so break its resistance to being handled by humans. Later the training will progress to actually riding the animal.
